Do any of our readers have information about two doctors named BEESON who practiced medicine in Noel, MO, around the turn of the century? John P. BEESON (7103 Running Rope, Austin, TX 78731) is the grandson of Dr. Henry Oliver BEESON in the Noel-Southwest City area from some time in the 1890s until 1908 or 1909. He may have been divorced and remarried during this period. Dr. Henry Oliver BEESON supposedly owned a drug store in Noel.
The other doctor, John Pierce BEESON, was the son of Henry Oliver and the father of Rootbound's Texas correspondent. Young Dr. BEESON practiced in the same area from 1905 until 1916. He may have been a partner in the drug store, and he may have owned that business from 1909 until he left Noel. He and his father supposedly had a dispute over something to do with the store. Young Dr. BEESON was on active duty in the U.S. Army in 1916 and 1917 during the Mexican border troubles, and again from June 1919 until his death in 1943.
John P. BEESON of Austin, TX, would like any information on his grandfather and father which our readers might have. He is particularly interested in finding out if the elder Dr. BEESON was divorced and remarried while living in this area, and approximately the date of which he left. He also wishes to learn the surname of Janet, the wife of young Dr. BEESON.
Rootbound has faith in our readers! There are undoubtedly people living around the Christmas City today who have some recollections of these physicians. John P. BEESON would like to hear from them - and so would Rootbound!
Good friend Rose STAUBER (Rt. 3, Box 1084, Grove, OK 74344) would like to make contact with anyone who is tracking the surname GILLENWATER. Of particular interest to Rose is Missouri (Zora/Zuri) GILLENWATER who was born in Hawkins County, TN, on 11 Jan 1817. She married John Simmons WILLIAMS in Hawkins County on 13 Oct 1840. The couple moved to Effingham, IL, where their surviving children were born, and the family later migrated to McDonald County, MO. In the 1850s they were residing north of Southwest City close to the Oklahoma line. Missouri and John are buried in the Hays-Williams Cemetery of McDonald County.
Rose STAUBER wants to contact others who are on the trail of any GILLENWATER(S), SIMMONS,or WILLIAMS (from TN). She reports that she is also still looking for descendants of Stephen Grant ROSE who lived with his family near McElhaney on the north McDonald County line in the early 1900s. Those with information to share should take pen in hand and write to Rose at her home in Grove.
Regular correspondent Janet K. PEASE (10310 West 62nd Place, Apt. 202, Arvada, CO 80004) is seeking the ancestry of W.T. (William Thomas) "Boone" POINTS who was residing in Flat Creek Township of Barry County, MO, in 1880. Mr. POINTS was born in 1843 in Grant County, KY, and in 1864 he married Nancy A. TAYLOR in Greene County, MO. Their children as listed on the 1880 census included: Geoge A. (born 1865), Mary A. (1868), Henry L. (1870), Sarah (1872), Martha (1874), Andrew J. (1877), Alice (1880), and a niece, Molly J. BROOKS (born ca. 1868, MO).
Nancy POINTS died in 1907, and Boone passed away in 1922. Both are buried in Jamesville, Stone County, MO. Can any of our readers provide Janet with information about the ancestry of Boone or Nancy POINTS?
Sylvia MIONE (1718 Ridgemont, Wichita Falls, TX 76309) wishes to exchange research material with anyone working on a TIDWELL or BENSON family. Any takers?
Roy and Kathleen LONG (842 Park St., NW, Miami, OK 74354) are former Rootbound contributors who have written recently to say that they are still searching for genealogical records on an Alexander Earl KING. If that name rings a bell with any of our readers, please get in touch with Roy and Kathleen.
